Donation Announcement for the Beautiful Complicated Shop!

The Beautiful Complicated Shop’s annual donation post is hitting a little different this year 🥹🥹

This fall I hadn’t yet decided on where to give partial proceeds for 2024. However, when my 14 year-old nephew recently needed to stay at Children’s for a medical emergency, I knew this is where my heart was at ❤️

Having SMA, I’ve had my fair share of hospital stays at the HSC Children’s Hospital. It’s a part of my life that I had sort of mentally put aside, but when my nephew was admitted to the hospital it was like woosh, I was right back to my childhood.

Talk about a full circle moment… But not one that we would have necessarily chosen. While my nephew’s medical experience is different from my own, I believe anyone familiar with needing to stay at the hospital will know the common emotions.

Scared, homesick, lonely, discouraged… Yet, also so grateful for the incredible care from the doctors and nurses who are doing everything they can to help you.

So… I am honoured to be partnering with the HSC Children’s Hospital Foundation this year 💫  And you are too! Through every purchase YOU make from our shop, you will be contributing to the beautiful mission of the hospital!

Just as a refresher, Beautiful Complicated is an online shop of modern, handmade goods made with a purpose. I (Cristina) have Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a degenerative physical disorder. It is a complicated condition, but my life is also made up of beautiful moments and experiences.

Beautiful Complicated Shop is a family run business, with each person contributing to the vision of the brand. Every item has been carefully designed to give individuals the opportunity to embrace their own beautiful, complicated life. Partial proceeds of every sale goes to community programs. Past charities include Harvest Manitoba, Love for Lewiston Foundation, and Cure SMA Canada.
